ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To compare the mental health of undergraduates before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to their mental health one year later. PARTICIPANTS: Data from the American College Health Association (ACHA)'s National College Health Assessment III (ACHA-NCHAIII) were used, averaging a sample size of 54,844 undergraduate students and 106 schools nationwide per time point of assessment in the study. METHODS: Secondary analyses of the ACHA-NCHAIII compared undergraduates' scores on five measures of mental health measures (loneliness, psychological distress, suicidality, flourishing, and resilience) from Spring 2020 to Spring 2021. RESULTS: Undergraduates' responses showed an increase in loneliness, psychological distress, and suicidality as well as a decrease in flourishing and resilience. CONCLUSIONS: The worsening of undergraduates' mental health calls for greater action by schools to alleviate students' distress and improve their wellbeing.

ABSTRACT

Digitalization and digital applications play important roles in the business activities and business models of enterprises. This paper investigates the impact of digitalization on customer value creation in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam. A quantitative study was conducted with a sample of202 small and medium enterprises in Vietnam. SPSS version 28 was used to examine whether there was a relationship between digitalization and customer value creation. The study shows that factors such as connectivity, customer management and information, business models, technology and processes, and the use of online solutions have a positive impact on creating value for customers in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam. Based on the results, suggestions for top management of small and medium enterprises to improve customer value creation are provided.

ABSTRACT

Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) maps usually show heterogeneous distributions of B-factors and electron density occupancies and are typically B-factor sharpened to improve their contrast and interpretability at high-resolutions. However, 'over-sharpening' due to the application of a single global B-factor can distort processed maps causing connected densities to appear broken and disconnected. This issue limits the interpretability of cryo-EM maps, i.e. ab initio modelling. In this work, we propose 1) approaches to enhance high-resolution features of cryo-EM maps, while preventing map distortions and 2) methods to obtain local B-factors and electron density occupancy maps. These algorithms have as common link the use of the spiral phase transformation and are called LocSpiral, LocBSharpen, LocBFactor and LocOccupancy. Our results, which include improved maps of recent SARS-CoV-2 structures, show that our methods can improve the interpretability and analysis of obtained reconstructions.
